Functions of VDBs

i.        Since inception, it started functioning as the primary grass root level
          developmental organization in the State of Nagaland in 1980.

ii.       Primary objective of the VDBs is to achieve De-Centralized planning through
          involvement of grass root level organization.

iii.      VDBs functions under the control of Chairman VBD and the Village Councils.

iv.       VDBs are responsible for all developmental activities, proper fund utilization, 
          selection, and implementation and monitoring of schemes.

v.        VDB is represented by a Secretary and Management Committee with 25% compulsory 
          representation of the management Committee reserved for women.
 
                  The selection , implementation and monitoring of all activities by the 
Village are under the purview of the VDB Secretary and the Management Committee. All schemes
of the Department of Rural Developemnt, namely the IAY,GIA,MCG,SGSY,NREGS,BRGF & PMF are 
being implemented by the VBDs and schematic funds are directly channeled and deposited into
their respective account which is maintain by the CEO DRDA, Project Director DRDA and the 
VDB Secretary.. Auditing is mandatory every year by a committee selected by the chairman 
VDB. Mandatory General Body meeting of the Village by the VDB are to be conducted twice a 
year and monthly meeting of the management Committee is a pre-requisite for the functioning
of the VDBs.
